In the 1960s the contest for the land speed record heated up on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. At the forefront stood Art Arfons and Craig Breedlove, driving insanely powerful vehicles powered by fighter plane jets. In the space of less than three years they pushed the LSR from 394 to over 600 mph.
